bronze-award-2-cropWe are excited to announce that Mackintosh Littleton received a Bronze Achievement Award today from the Colorado Environmental Leadership Program.

This award recognizes our environmental initiatives including the solar panels, glass recycling and Terracycling programs, greenhouse and terracing projects, and other sustainability projects on campus. Students, teachers and parents have collaborated to make these initiatives a reality over the past several years.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment recognized 169 organizations for outstanding environmental achievements that help keep Colorado a desirable place to work and live. Head of School Diane Dunne, Middle School Teacher and Green Team Lead Alison Weems, and 8th graders Sam Pausback and Gillian Schwanitz represented Mackintosh Academy at the ceremony held at the McNichols Civic Center Building. More than 400 government, business and community leaders attended, and Governor John Hickenlooper was a featured speaker.bronze-award-1-crop

The awards recognize Colorado organizations with gold, silver and bronze designations for voluntarily going beyond compliance with state and federal regulations and for their commitment to continual environmental improvement.

We are very proud of the staff, students and community who have collaborated on sustainability initiatives in our “Smart Village” to make this award possible!
