ABOUT THE BOULDER CAMPUS

In 2010, Mackintosh Boulder opened on a 23-acre site at 6717 South Boulder Road. Inside, the building features reflect the school’s transdisciplinary focus including a fully equipped science lab, design thinking lab, library, state-of-the-art performing arts/music space, and creative and visual arts cottage. The spectacular grounds include large open space, mountain views, a creek, pond, pollinator garden, working observation bee hive, shady grove, low ropes course, cows (to “cut the lawn”) and even a working permaculture farm. Children eat lunch outside at picnic tables on sunny days and enjoy recess several times daily.

JJ Morrow

Head of School, Boulder

I’m a creator or maker by nature. Much like we say Mackintosh is a tribe for children, I found my tribe here. Mackintosh has a culture of inquisitiveness and ingenuity. I see the same energy and excitement in a kindergartener as I do in an eighth grader. As an educator, parent, and human being, I thrive on this—because we are changing, adapting, moving as the world does. Gifted children in Boulder deserve a school where they can feel safe and inspired to be the best version of themselves. I am proud to be a part of creating our school.
